MAS Rockcraft Seminars are multi-day instructional courses designed to raise your rock climbing to the next level. A blend of instruction and free climbing make these courses an MAS specialty. Learn valuable outdoor climbing skills from professional and friendly instructor in low student to instructor ratios.

Whether it will be your first time or it has just been awhile, this thorough introduction to outdoor rock climbing is designed to get you climbing safely and confidently outdoors. This two day format allows ample time solid skill development while enjoying the beauty of Bear Valley in the High Sierra Nevada.

  • Proper equipment use and care
  • Top-rope belay skills & commands
  • Outdoor rock climbing techniques (face & crack)
  • Rappelling
  • Introduction to top rope anchor set-up

Take your climbing to the next level during this two day seminar designed to prepare students to set their own top-rope anchors with natural, fixed and removable anchors such as nuts, hexes and cams. There will also be time for climbing and improving your outdoor climbing skills. This is a great course for indoor climbers looking to make the transition outdoors.

  • "MAS EARNEST" principle of safe anchors
  • Tope Rope site safety management
  • Proper use of fixed, natural & removable gear
  • The "MAS 5-Points" of Bombproof Anchors

This program has an emphasis on traditional lead climbing skills and is aimed to help climbers prepare for the realities of outdoor lead climbing, including climber self-rescue skills. The low student to instructor ratio (2:1) maximizes the course efficiency and personalized feedback.

  • Lead climbing preparation, organization & strategy
  • Placing gear on lead
  • Fall factors and impact forces
  • Rope and belay management

•  participants should be comfortable setting top-ropes and placing removable gear such as nuts, hexes and cams:
a) Anchoring Rockcraft Seminar or equivalent,
b) Top-Rope Anchors & Traditional Gear or equivalent
•  previous outdoor climbing experience
•  good belaying skills (gym belay cards accepted)
